A Plasma Proteogenomic Signature for Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Researchers characterized plasma protein profiles and lipid signatures of fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD).

The study identified 105 proteins and 16 lipid sub-classes with differential plasma abundance in FMD cases versus controls. Further, 37 of the identified plasma proteins and 10 lipid sub-classes were validated in an independent cohort. FMD seems to exhibit a specific plasma proteomic and lipid signature that holds a promise for developing a blood-based test for dianostic use.
