An interaction map of circulating metabolites, immune gene networks, and their genetic regulation

In this paper, researchers identified gene networks enriched for diverse immune functions by carrying out genome-wide scans.

These immune gene modules were then compared with blood transcriptomic and metabolomic profiles. Modules of mast cell/basophil and neutrophil function showed temporally stable metabolite associations over a 7-year follow-up, indicating a role in metabolic inflammation.
